Your Invitation to a Self-Care Practice
Creating Tokens of Love: Free LIVE Workshop on YouTube
My dear friend,
As you’re reading this, I invite you to close your eyes for 10 seconds and reflect on what you notice. The cadence of your breath, the sounds that surround you, the colors you see in your mind’s eye … simply observe.
Now open your eyes and breathe in slowly. Breathe out.
Does the world feel a little less overwhelming? A little less chaotic?
It’s been a week of this conscious “putting-the-world-on-pause” practice for me that has felt like a savior. I’ve retreated into my studio for the better part of the day and doubled down on creating little tokens of love with different materials, mediums and techniques.
I have found my peace in that simple act of playing.
This Saturday, I’m inviting you to join me in this practice — one that has transformed not just my art journey, but my entire approach to moving through our increasingly compartmentalized world.
What to Expect
Let me be clear that this is not a “follow-me-along” and “do-as-I-do” art class. This is a self-care session disguised as creative play.
We’ll be making little tokens of appreciation—simple watercolor washes that bloom into florals, abstract colorful patterns that spark joy, wonky handwritten messages wrapped in simple flower doodles.
But really, we’re creating moments of peace for ourselves and ripples of kindness for others. You might find yourself experimenting with color mixing, watching inks dance on paper, or simply adding thoughtful words to a decorated background.
Every experiment is welcome, every attempt celebrated.
Who This Is For
The person who says: “I’m not artistic”: if you have ever worried about not knowing how to watercolor or draw a straight line (I am one of those people!) … if you buy all the supplies but the overwhelm of using them paralyzes you … if you feel like you can’t collage to save your life! Let me stop you right there: this workshop is not about learning any new technical skills—it’s about putting color and heart on paper. Your willingness to try is the only artistic talent needed.
The person who seeks mindful moments: if your mind is constantly racing, like mine, with to-do lists, news headlines, and endless unread notifications, this is your invitation to pause. Creating these little tokens becomes a form of meditation— a chance to focus on nothing but experimentation of mediums, feeling the paper under your painted fingertips, and experiencing the simple joy of immersing oneself in the process regardless of the outcome.
The person who sees themself as a kindness believer: in a world where even the simplest gestures can become politically charged, I am hoping to offer a space for one hour where kindness isn’t partisan. It’s not a statement or a stance — it’s simply human. Whether you’re conservative, liberal, or somewhere in between, if you believe in the power of small acts of kindness to make someone’s day brighter, you belong here.
The person who needs a connection: sometimes the world feels impossibly lonely, but when I create these little tokens, knowing that they are for a grocery clerk or a delivery driver or a crossing guard, I am reminded that we’re all connected through small acts of kindness. We can all be change-makers. When you join this practice, you become part of a community of creators who believe in spreading joy, one little token at a time.
Remember, these aren’t exclusive categories—they’re merely reflections of the different seasons we all move through.
As nuanced, complex beings, we rarely fit into neat boxes. Perhaps, you see yourself in all of these descriptions, or maybe you’re like me, somewhere in between … carrying both creative dreams and hesitations, holding a deep desire to help but also a need to be helped … a person simultaneously seeking solitude and connection.
That’s the gentle beauty of this practice: it meets you exactly where you are today, honoring all your layers and your contradictions … and offering exactly what your heart needs most right now.
What You’ll Need
Bring whatever art supplies you have on hand—watercolors, markers, crayons, gel plate, acrylics, inks, stamp pads, pencils, or even just a pen and paper. There is no magic in the materials … it is within you.
It is in the intention you bring to the table.
The desire you have to make a difference.
Why This Matters
In our increasingly divided world, this practice offers something rare: a space where the only agenda is kindness. No judgment, no prerequisite skills, no expectations. Just humans coming together to create small moments of beauty.
Think of this as an hour of creative mindfulness with tangible results—little tokens that will go on to brighten someone else’s day while giving you the time and space you need for yourself.
You’ll find me on YouTube Live on Saturday, November 16th at 2 p.m. Pacific Time. No registration needed—simply click the link at the scheduled time. If you’d like a reminder, hit the “Set Reminder” button on the YouTube page.
Can’t make it live? The recording will be available afterward, though I’d love to create alongside you in real-time if you can come.
Bring a friend, bring your curiosity, bring your desire to spread a little more light in the world. Because in times like these, every small act of kindness matters—not as a political statement, but as a human one.
Remember: You don’t need to be an artist to create beauty.
You just need to be willing to try.
Will you join me in spreading some joy? I promise it will be fun!
Share this invitation with anyone who might need a gentle reminder that they are loved and capable of creating beautiful things.
Remember, this isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. About showing up for ourselves and each other.
I can’t wait to share this practice with you.
With gratitude and hope for the ripples we are capable of creating together,
Mansi.
Very interesting, lovely and creative initiative.
